Jean Pierre Moulin (20 June 1899 – 8 July 1943) was a prominent French civil servant and a key figure in the French Resistance during World War II, known for unifying various resistance networks under the National Council of the Resistance, which he led from May 1943 until his death.
Born in Béziers, France, he served as a prefect in several departments before joining the Resistance after refusing to collaborate with the German occupiers.
Moulin was arrested in 1943, tortured by the Gestapo, and ultimately died under mysterious circumstances, becoming a symbol of courage and patriotism in France.
His legacy is commemorated in numerous schools, streets, and memorials across the country, reflecting his status as a national hero.
